About

Welcome to the official website of freelance writer Krissy Brady, a website dedicated to keeping the passion for writing alive.

I have always had the best of intentions in terms of setting goals for my life and striving to accomplish them; however, these intentions have caused me to try and accomplish too much at once, which ultimately put my writing career on hold. It's now four years later, and I do not have a single recent writing credit to my name.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have any regrets. The things that have transpired for me during the past four years have not only helped to enhance both my personal and professional life, they have helped me to realize who I "really" am. I say "really" in quotations because I am not referring to the person society makes me feel I should be and I'm following the status quo; I am referring to who I personally feel I should (and am meant to) be. That is the reason for this blog.

I woke up one day to the unsettling realization that my life had turned out exactly how I didn't want it to, and I couldn't figure out where I went wrong (trust me, I went on thinking about it for months). I am 26, turning 27 in April, and am nowhere near where I thought I would be by this point. When trying to voice my concerns to find answers rather than wait for an epiphany, I was constantly scoffed at: "You're only 26! You have plenty of time to figure things out," or "You're so much further along than other people your age! You shouldn't put so much pressure on yourself," OR "Enter-comparison-of-how-much-worse-your-life-was-than-mine-at-26-here."

I understand where they were coming from and the intentions behind their words, but their words were only... words. There was no concrete substance behind what they were saying that would help steer me back to my intended direction, making me feel for quite some time that I was never going to see that direction again. This begs the question: when did mediocre become good enough? I don't mean mediocre in terms of financial well-being or the number of iPads and iPods and Smartphones that are in one household; I'm referring to the mediocre that occurs when someone survives in society just because it is expected of them. When did this become an acceptable way of living?

When we are put through the school system we are told we can be anything we want to be, and do anything we want to do, but we are not taught the survival skills to keep this attitude alive for when we step out into society. We step out as individuals, and if we don't keep a close eye on our identities, we become our opposite.

How will this website help you?
If you are a new writer, it is my hope that this blog will help you to become aware of potential problems that may arise during the process, so that you can sidestep them and reach your goals more efficiently than I did.

If you are like me, a writer who became very lost during the responsibilities that come with being an adult and are looking to find your way back, I will be documenting the revival of my writing career, and the various steps I take to reach my goals in order to help other writers do the same.

The biggest challenge will be integrating my writing into my already hectic lifestyle, eventually transitioning from full-time website designer to full-time writer, so I will be providing as much information as I can on the process for those who are struggling to do the same.

No matter your level of expertise in the writing field, my goal is to provide information that will inspire and motivate you, and will help you to never lose your passion for writing along the way—it is too important to ignore, and I am dedicated to helping writers create an ideal, balanced, and successful lifestyle that suits them, not the status quo.
